K.C.: “I would have liked to have been there when the old man died. Then I could have danced on his grave.”
McMurphy: “You gotta forgive him, K.C.
K.C.: “He doesn’t deserve it.”
McMurphy: “But you do.

Sgt Major Cody: “Anyway, I have bigger problems than the both of you.”

  • K.C.: "Why didn't you tell them?"
  • McMurphy: "That night. The ward. The glass. The crucifix."
  • K.C.: "Colonel Mustard. The candlesticks. The library. Why didn't you tell them?! All I had was you to save me. You who saves everybody. I've never trusted anybody in my life. I trusted you."
  • McMurphy: "I didn't think anybody mattered to you."
  • K.C.: "You do! I wish you didn't."
  • McMurphy: "Why?"
  • K.C.: "Because you don't have a sister, and if you did it wouldn't be me."
  • McMurphy: "But there you are."

Wayne Federman: “Agents! I’m so glad you could hang.  Come on, I want you to meet the people that are going to play you.  Garry Shandling, Téa Leoni, this is Agents Mulder and Scully.”

Mulder: “Nice to meet you.”
Scully: “Hi.”
Garry Shandling: “Nice to meet you.”
Téa Leoni: “It’s a pleasure.”
Mulder: “Big fan. Fox Mulder.”

Gillian Anderson is the reason I first started listening to punk music. The story of her dispute with the Fox network to receive equal pay as her costar, despite their reservations about her not being a "typical blonde bombshell"* and her sudden pregnancy, inspired me to always demand what I’m worth in my career. Her award-winning performance in The House of Mirth quite literally scared me into getting a savings account. She got married twice, has had three children with two different men, runs countless charities, spends time with her fans, and refuses to be pigeonholed. This, and her choice of roles (feminist, strong, complicated, sexy) as well as her commitment to philanthropic work and her family makes me think that if we try hard enough, we really can have it all.I forgot about her for twenty years, and now that I’m all growns up I’m proud to say that she is the only celeb that has lived up to all my misguided, confused, flannel-and-daisy-print wearing rebellious expectations. So here’s to my no 1. role model: thank you for Scully in 1994, thank you for Stella Gibson in 2014, and thank you for being a bright spark in a weird and fucked-up world. But most of all, thanks for these amazing, ridiculous 90s fashion choices. *Who’s laughing now, Fox?
